Case Study | Curlewis Golf Club’s new $8 million driving range

Over the past year MiClub has worked closely with Curlewis Golf Club and Club Manager Brenden Caligari to bring to life their state-of-the-art driving range facility with upgraded membership and point of sales technology.

Saturday morning on the 27th of January, Curlewis Golf Club opened the doors to the new range equipped with 18 indoor/outdoor driving bays, 18-hole mini golf course, XGOLF Simulators, and a licensed cafe with plenty of space for events. For more information visit The Range. 

Growth at Curlewis

Rewind 12 months ago when Curlewis embarked on their project. The club conducted an extensive review of integrated golf operations, memberships, point of sales and hospitality software. With memberships on the rise Curlewis recognised the need to upgrade their system capabilities. There was a clear vision; to deliver a golf experience that was both revolutionary and innovative to everyone in the Geelong region. 

SwiftPOS upgrade

In 2016 Curlewis made the transition to SwiftPOS to improve club reporting and functionality. The switch yielded great results for club operations and the management team. SwiftPOS is a powerful point of sales solution designed for hospitality and retail settings.

The Curlewis driving range became the first Australian club to have a SwiftPOS integrated MiFare contactless smart membership card system. This solution allows members to access funds directly from their account at the Range Servant driving range ball dispensers. Automating this for members reduces spending barriers and improves playing experience by simplifying the process. 

MiMembership upgrade

In 2017 Curlewis shifted towards the MiMembership system to further develop club processes. MiMembership integrates seamlessly with the MiClub Golf platform in runtime which helped Curlewis better manage their growing membership base.  

“MiClub advised us that a new membership platform would provide additional benefits for golf operations and back office. Again, we entrusted MiClub with their advice and transitioned to the new MiMembership platform. Needless to say, the new software has again been a major benefit for our club, which now sees full automation of competition prizes being posted in the member’s house accounts – with the click of a button. The time savings in the Pro Shop and back office has yielded significant labour savings” – Brenden Caligari

This membership solution is intuitive and configurable. In addition to the available mandatory fields, users have the ability to add user definable fields for capturing pertinent information. Reporting features are configurable as all fields can be accessed to create user definable reports. The renewal process is a breezeall invoices can be emailed using one of MiClub’s communication plans. Direct Debits are straight forward, monthly, quarterly and custom plans can be created. PC compliant integration to MiClub partner Ezidebit provides low cost transaction rates and a seamless process for collecting fees.
